These variables are additionally presented in this work, to appear, that individuals must give more consideration on normal vitality, to diminish cost and take all points of interest of it. Points and destinations This task was intended to produce information about Solar Power and to learn focal points of utilizing common vitality. The goal is to disclose individuals how to familiarize peruser with sunlight based force utilizing models and fascinating realities.  Presentation For a large number of years, individuals have been utilizing sun for basic needs, for example, drying garments and developing food. In any case, just not as much as age prior, individuals have had the option to utilize it for creating power. Greater part of individuals are utilized to utilize petroleum products and are not keen on utilizing new wellsprings of vitality. Be that as it may, they would change their assessments and their propensities after they studied harm made by petroleum products and all the advantages of characteristic materials.  History of Solar Power Numerous purchasers imagines that sun based force is a moderately new force source however that is false. The sun has been known to be a wellspring of vitality going back to old occasions. The old Greek were the first to utilize sun oriented capacity to their advantage, as they incorporated their homes with the side of slopes to exploit the warmth stockpiling from the sun during the day that would then be discharged during the night. The antiquated Romans were the principal individuals to utilize glass windows to take the glow of the sun in their homes. They were so genuine about the protection of this sun powered vitality that they raised glass houses to make the correct conditions to develop plants and seeds. While individuals were profiting by sunlight based force, the principal sun based authority was constructed distinctly in 1776. The gatherer was worked by a man of honor called Horace de Saussare. This innovation pulled in much enthusiasm for mainstream researchers through the nineteenth century. In light of a legitimate concern for utilizing sunlight based force, Auguste Mouchout made a steam motor that was controlled distinctly by sun based vitality in 1861. This was an energizing occasion, however the creation was pricey and it couldn't be repeated or even kept up so the steam motor was immediately overlooked. It was during the later 50% of the 1950’s that sun powered force saw its first standard utilization. The principal sun powered water warmed place of business was worked during this time by a planner named Frank Bridgers. A brief timeframe later a little satellite of the US Vanguard was fueled by a sunlight based cell of short of what one watt. After such large walks in the 1950’s, the sunlight based force truly took off,  because of modest oil costs in the 1960’s, it was increasingly moderate for individuals to control their homes with oil than it was to control their homes or workplaces with sun powered vitality. There was a resurrection of the sun powered force in the 1970’s with the consistently expanded oil costs; in reality the US Department of Energy financed the Federal Photovoltaic Utilization Program. This program was answerable for the establishment and testing of more than 3,000 photovoltaic frameworks. The 1990’s brought a much more standard enthusiasm for sun based force. Sunlight based force was viewed as an extraordinary choice to oil and oil based commodities. During the 1990’s more than one million homes had some type of sun oriented force introduced. The sun is accessible the world over and despite the fact that it might go behind mists and it might go down around evening time, the sun is as yet accessible reliably enough to give the force we need. Indeed, the sun gives more vitality than the entire world presently employments! Another magnificent advantage of utilizing sun powered force is that it doesn’t dirty the earth where we live. Sun oriented force isn't related with poisons or nursery gasses like different types of intensity are. Sun based force is the main sort of intensity that isn't unsafe to the earth. An astounding thing about sun based force is that it is free. You don’t need to pay for the sun. In the event that you basically utilize sun based boards or lights you don’t need to pay to run them. You do need to pay for the establishment, however once this is done you get the force for nothing. Furthermore, sun oriented cells don’t require the support and they can last a real existence time so there is moderately little cost related with sunlight based force. Another regularly neglected preferred position of sun based force is that it is a quiet kind force. There is no compelling reason to utilize substantial apparatus, similar to the situation when boring for oil; the sun powered force just depends on the sun, which is quiet. While a great many people don’t consider commotion, when there is a nonappearance of it unexpectedly we understand how uproarious vitality creation at present is. Eventual fate of Solar Power: Sun oriented vitality has been utilized in some structure or another since antiquated occasions yet the sunlight based vitality future stays fully open. The purpose behind this is there are such a large number of factors related with how standard sun powered vitality use becomes.â The greatest main factor of sunlight based vitality later on is its expense. Current pundits of sun oriented vitality express that general coal and other petroleum derivatives are simply considerably more moderate, yet while non-renewable energy sources might be progressively affordable for the time being, the harm on the earth must be thought of!!! Luckily, the expense of sun powered force is descending, which implies that the eventual fate of sun based force is solid. How rapidly sun oriented force is the standard not the special case truly has to do with cost. The more that the administration pushes buyers toward a fossil free future, the more consideration sunlight based force will get and the more endeavors will be made to diminish the expense and increment the creation of sun based force.  Ends: Taking everything into account, the upsides of sun based force are immense and broad. In addition to the fact that this types of intensity advantage the individual and their home, it benefits the condition that we as a whole live in. Sun oriented force couldn't just make vitality costs dive for the whole gang, it could make the earth a superior spot to be over the long haul. References: Miss K. L. These things are what some theorize to be equated with witches. However, some may have been more casual. In William Shakespeare’s play Macbeth, three of the main characters are witches: the Weà ¯rd Sisters. One thing that witches all share in common, they possess at least some degree of mystery. Obviously, if three women appeared and began prophesying of things to come, eyebrows would be raised and skepticism would turn its sharp gears. However, as William Shakespeare intended, the three sisters ap pear to exist solely for that reason: to prophesy about things to come. To better understand the function of the witches, they must be put under the magnifying glass and examined. Why do the witches appear to Macbeth? To give him insight to his future. They did this for Banquo as well. In Act 1, Scene 3, Macbeth and Banquo are riding along on their loyal steeds when they stumble upon the sisters. Business Law Corporations Act 2001 Section

Question: Describe about the Report for Business Law of Corporations Act 2001 Section. Answer: In order to answer this question, a discussion on the rule of Indoor management is needed. When an employee or authority from a company on behalf of the company, enters into a contract with any outsider, it is considered that the company as a whole is entering into the said contract. A noteworthy case in this regard is Bank of New Zealand v. Fiberi Pty Ltd[1]. The outsider entering into such contracts should keep in mind few points before entering into any contract. This includes knowing whether the person entering into the contract has the actual authority to draw such contract. The authority should be Actual because in cases of Ostensible authority, the validity of the contract can be questioned. To understand the principle of Ostensible authority a reference should also be made to the case of Freeman Lockyer v Buckhurst Park Properties[2]. The third principle that an outsider should keep in mind is the rule of indoor management. When a person(s) enters into a contract with a company, they enter such contract in good faith. They assume that the person executing the contract on behalf of the company acts within the powers and constitution which apply to them[3]. This assumption covers those factors which an outsider would not be aware of in normal course of business. The outsider assumes that everything has been properly performed and the contract has been legitimately executed by the representative of the company. This is the rule of indoor management[4]. This rule acts as a protection for those person(s) who enter the contract genuinely and who cannot know about any irregularity arising out of the executed contract. The rule of indoor management has two major exceptions. The first exception is that the outsider should not be aware of the irregularity. If a person is aware that there is some irregularity and still, the person enters into the contract, in such a case, the person will not be entitled to any relief. The other exception to this rule covers the inquiry by the outsider. When the outsider raises some question that made the person suspicious about any possible irregularity and such person raises the inquiry for the same, they will not be covered under the rule of indoor management In our present case, Mojo Beverage has placed an advertisement in the local newspaper about a reward on catching Lord Harry (a fish). But the advertisement wrongly quoted the reward amount as $100,000 instead of the actual price money of $ 1,000. The said event was to happen at Lake Tranquil on the Australian Day. Ben was one the persons who read the advertisement and went for the said event. Upon arrival and before catching the fish, he heard a rumor about the price money being quoted wrongly in the newspaper and that the actual price money was $1,000. A representative of the company confirmed that Ben had caught the fish. In this case, Ben claimed that Mojo Beverage owed him the wrongly printed amount. The principle of indoor management would have been applicable in this case since Ben could not know about the right or wrong amount of the price advertised. But, before he could actually do the task mentioned in the advertisement he became aware of the irregularity. This is covered under the exception to the rule of indoor management. Though, on becoming aware about the irregularity, he did not raise an inquiry to the representative of the company. But since he was already covered by one of the exceptions of the rule, the claim for the wrongly printed amount cannot be made. Hence, the contention of Ben is completely wrong. 2.(a) A contract is an offer and acceptance of certain terms that the parties to contract agree upon, for exchange of some consideration[5]. The contract should not cover anything that contradicts the law or which may result in violation of some legislation. Thus, it can be summarized that in order for a contract to be legally binding, there must be an offer[6], an acceptance, a consideration and an intention to enter into the contract. The question arises as to whether an offer is same as an invitation to deal. The main criteria to understand the difference between the two is intent. When the party offers some terms to the other party, an acceptance is required. In case of invitation to deal, the intention of the other party would clarify the acceptance. If the invitation to deal states that any assent would be considered an acceptance, than that would be considered as acceptance. Or it may state that the assent would be considered as further negotiation. This difference could be clarified by referring to the case of Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain v Boots[7]. If the offer states a time frame within which the offer has to be accepted, then any acceptances after the lapse of the said time frame will be deemed ineffective. In case, the time period is not mentioned in for the offer then the acceptance must happen within a reasonable frame of time and beyond that time period, the acceptance becomes ineffective. The acceptance has to be clearly communicated whether verbally or written or even by conduct[8]. A mere mental decision cannot be treated as an acceptance. The acceptance has to be given by the person who received the offer. Any query raised by the party who has received the offer cannot be treated as an acceptance, unless the offer states so. In the present case, Dorper Sheep Seller Pty Ltd (DS) was negotiating a deal with Livestock Brokers (LB). On June 1, DS had sent a letter to LB asking about certain details and also stated that LB replies to those within 14 days. LB replied inquiring some terms. To this, DS did not reply anything. On December 12, LB accepted the offer, at the opening of their business. DS replied by saying that LB was late and that they had started the purchase with a third party and the formalities of that arrangement were to be completed the next day. In this case, the major issue revolves around acceptance. LB has failed to send a clear acceptance to the deal. A clear offer was made by DS which required an acceptance within the time frame of 14 days. LB only raised an inquiry during the given period but failed to accept the offer with the given time. Moreover, they sent the acceptance on 14 December which was six months the mentioned time frame. LB knew they had not sent any acceptance and hence no deal was made. Though this acceptance came at the opening of business of LB, but the time frame of acceptance had lapsed and so, the contention that the business was closed, cannot hold. It was the duty of LB to clearly state the acceptance within 14 days and hence, LB cannot contend this case on any basis. (b) In the second part of this question, LB sends a fax of acceptance on June 14. But, DS did not receive any acceptance due to a transmission error. To answer whether such acceptance would be deemed acceptance, one must consider the famous case of Blackpool Fylde Aero Club v Blackpool Borough Council[9]. In the mentioned case, the council had invited tenders which were to be submitted in a given time frame. Aero Club had submitted these documents but due to an error on part of the Council, it was recorded as to be received as late and the tender of Aero Club was not considered. The Club alleged it as a breach of contract by claiming that the Council should have considered all the tenders which were submitted within the due date. The judge in this case held that if the tenders are submitted by the Club within the time frame and within the procedures required for submission of such tenders, the submission would be considered as timely. The judge also held that the Club had submitted the tender in the given time frame and so they held that the tender would be opened and considered. The delay on part of the Council cannot be blamed upon the Club. Relating this case study to our present case, a submission made by LB on July 14 would be considered as a valid acceptance and LB cannot be held liable for the transmission error by DS. In this case, LB can sue for breach of contract. 3. In situations where the landlord sells his accommodation to someone and there is a tenant in that accommodation, the tenant attains certain rights. It is not necessary that a new rent agreement be drawn in case of a new landlord. As long as both parties (the tenant and the new landlord) agree to the terms of same agreement, the old agreement (between the tenant and the old landlord) can continue. If the new landlord does not wish to rent the property, they have to give a standard notice to vacate[10]. In case of sale of property, the new landlord and the old landlord have to notify to the authorities stating that the property has changed hands[11]. When a tenant is under a fixed term rent agreement (given the time period is under two years), the rent cannot be increased unless and until it is entered in writing[12]. Once it gets over, the agreement becomes periodic or of rolling lease (unless the parties enter into another fixed term rent agreement). The rent gets increased in such agreements. A table depicting time frame after which the rent increases depending upon the region is given at the end (Table 1). In case of a dispute with the landlord, a tenant can apply with the respective authorities. For a dispute in New South Wales region, a tenant can go to NCAT (NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal)[13] for relief. In Victoria region, RTBA (Residential Tenancies Bond Authority), VCAT (Victorian Civil Administrative Tribunal), EOCV (Equal Opportunity Commission Victoria)[14] are applicable. A tenant can request the landlord for a reduction the rent. The landlord may or may not agree to such reduction. In case the landlord agrees to such reduction, it is advisable to get such reduction in writing[15]. In case the property changes hand and the said arrangement is not in written, it cannot be enforced upon the new land owner. Though, an understanding of the same proposal can be reached with the new owner, if they agree. In case a tenant under pays the rent, the landlord can demand such short paid rent. The landlord can use Form 21 (breach notice of nonpayment of rent) or just give the notice in writing. Such short paid rent has to be paid within 14 days of the notice. If the tenant fails to be the arrears, the landlord can issue the notice of termination in form 1A[16]. This agreement acts as an end of the rental agreement and the tenant has to vacate the accommodation in the following 7 days. In present case, the tenant Stuart had a lease agreement for a period of 5 years (at the end of 2010) with Westphalia Marts Pty Ltd (WM). The rent amount was fixed at $1000 a week. In 2013, due to a decline in his business, he asked the landlord to reduce his rent by $300 thereby making the rent as $700. The landlord agreed to the revision in price and started paying the rent of $700. There was no written agreement to give effect to this reduced price. WM decided to sell off the mall (in which Stuart had his shop) in December 2014. In order to make the Malls income look healthy, they asked Stuart to pay the arrears of each month. The question here arises whether Stuart has any relief in this case. Stuart had a written agreement with WM which stated the full amount of rent. Even though both the parties had agreed to a lower amount of rent, a new agreement or a revised agreement was not drawn. There was no written agreement to give effect to the changed rent. And due to this shortfall, Stuart does not have any right to sue. References Australasian Legal Information Institute, Corporations Act 2001 Section 125-129, New South Wales, 2016. Spirit On Two Strings free essay sample

Looking to add some exotic flavor to your CD collection? Search no more. â€Å"Spirit on Two Strings† is a beautiful, meditative collection of traditional erh-hu music, masterfully executed by Jie-Bing Chen and accompanied by Yang-Qin Zhao. Chen, considered the greatest virtuoso of the erh-hu in the world, delivers a performance filled with passion and vigor on the vertical two-stringed instrument often dubbed the â€Å"violin of the East,† invoking images of cherry blossoms blowing in a soft breeze, or gentle brooks babbling in the countryside. The music is distinctly Chinese, which makes it interesting, and also has a great calming effect when you’re stressed or worried. The CD opens with â€Å"Moon Reflects on the Erh-Chuan Spring,† a piece that begins simply and quietly, then becomes dramatic and urgent. This track is probably the strongest on the album, though there is not a single weak song. In â€Å"Birds Singing in a Deserted Mountain,† Chen gives the erh-hu a birdlike quality that makes the piece stand out; the final track, the march â€Å"Bright Prospects,† stands alone too, departing from the traditional feel of the album. Czarist Russia essays

Czarist Russia essays In the early czarist age/ pre-Revolutionary era Russia was a feudal land system and there was a growing gap between agricultural Russia and industrial Europe. Russia under the czars was growing out of the feudal system, but it was a slow process because the czars were afraid of losing power and control. The czars were just large landowners themselves, so they tried to resist turning Russia into an industrial capitalist state. However the czars did many things to start the process, they initiated all kinds of land reforms, such as the Stolypin reforms which weakened the communal agricultural land and allowed peasants to own small pieces of land. Allowing the private ownership of land allowed for some peasant families to become wealthy, and allowed them to use land as a commodity. Peasants could now buy and sell land to settle debts, and those that had to sell their land moved into the cities and started to create a labor force. Under the czars Russia was able extensively expand their railroad system. IN 1861 they had about 2000 kilometers of rail ,by 1913 they had increased the rail line to 70,000 kilometers. The expansion of the rail allowed for the Russians to transport their military more easily, and it opened up the coal and iron resources in the Ukraine. The rail also helped in the transporting of grain and other agricultural outputs. The czarist government also created a conservative monetary policy that allowed Russia, in 1897, to join the international gold standard. Industry took advantage of their countries backwardness by adopting already existing technology instead of trying to create their own. Industrial outputs at this time increase, grain out put triples, labor force grows and the GDP increases. However even with the major increase Russia is still well behind the other European countries. The czars helped to increase the foreign involvement in Russia through trade and through increase in foreign capi ...

1984 Novel Essay

1984 Novel Essay I think that today’s society is a â€Å"half version† of George Owell’s novel, 1984, in some ways it is similar and in others, uniquely different. The closest we come today to a â€Å"Big Brother† is the mob. The people are also controlled by watchful security cameras and subliminal messages. However, something in life today is very different from that of 1984, it is the people. In the words of the famous lyricist, â€Å"Power to the People. † In analyzing â€Å"Big Brother,† there are similarities between it and the mob. The Mafia is a crime amily that can see everything, there is no going against the mob or else someone is going to die. The Mafia is so widespread that it has operatives all over keeping an eye out for cops or law enforcement, this is the Mafia’s â€Å"telescreens† (Orwell 6). Another startling similarity between the mob and â€Å"Big Brother† is the Mafia’s strange way of making someone disappear or â€Å"vaporize† (Orwell ). Almost unknowingly a person’s identity can be changed, altered, or deleted. Authorities use security and surveillance cameras to observe criminal activities or possibly every day activities. Too much surveillance liberties are given to police or FBI. By using hi-tech cameras which can actually document a person’s life. Unknowingly, there may be a cute little camera installed in the bedroom. Another way that today’s society controls the masses is subliminal messages. Illegal now, subliminal messages were widely used in the entertainment business, especially during the fifties. An example is that movie makers would add a split-second commercial add for popcorn and soda during a movie. Customers would actually be manipulated into buying these products. Even though, this kind of rainwashing is illegal, it is still very hard to detect, who’s to say that we are not bombarded by subliminal messages just by watching commercials on television. This is too risky, to think that a person’s actions and emotions can be swayed by someone else’s perversion’s. Again, this is very similar to 1984. Of all the things there are today that would make it impossible for there to be an inner or outer party, as in 1984, is that there is each other. No matter how hard our government tries, they cannot reach everyone. Contrary to 1984, where they do get everyone, I feel that was extreme and unlikely. I find it highly unlikely that a form of government can find a way to get the whole world to follow them. 1984 is not a reality, strength lies in numbers. In conclusion, life in the nineties, is a very resilient time. In this time, there is a substantial amount of restriction of the public, much of which is for law and order. A lot of this day and age may resemble George Orwell’s 1984. It is nothing but a facade of government mixing with technology at a dangerous level. There’s nothing to fear because 1984 is far-fetched and an anti-socialists nightmare.

Business and cultural differences Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2250 words

Business and cultural differences - Essay Example But this expansion also needs to recognize the culture of the people. The way the people dress, different ways for analyzing problems and how they interact are very important to understand in order to find the communication gap between the nations. Without proper communication several problems may arise due to difference in the cultural practices. In this study we will find the differences between the cultural backgrounds of UK and that of the acquisition company at China. Several issues which could arise within the organization due to cross cultural activities have been discussed in this study in order to successfully deal with any potential issues (Burton, 2009, p.8). 2 Cultural differences between United Kingdom and China The culture of the nation is often defined from the collective programming of the different minded people. The cultural differences are basically formed from four dimensions of the culture of a nation. These are basically power distance, individualism, masculinit y and uncertainty avoidance. Based on these factors the culture of the nation varies to a great extent from country to country. 2.1 Power Distance Index The power distance index is the indicative of the distance between the top management and the subordinates. In high power distance culture they have inequality of power and wealth in the society. This is not forced on the population but comes from the cultural heritage of the country. China has a highly power distance culture which is ranked 80 compared to the world average of 55, while in UK it’s around 30. Therefore in China the people maintain a great distance in different levels of the organization which sometimes leads to an unfriendly workspace with professional relation being the priority in business. Every employee is not free to express their feelings and they are not allowed to take any business decision. The top management are only responsible to take critical decisions in the business. In UK business strategy, the supervisors are well mixed with the subordinates thus creating a very friendly and healthy workspace since the power is well distributed and dew to very small distance between the levels everyone is invited to share their own thoughts on the business plans. The business plans are taken after discussion with all the levels of the organization. Every individual are encouraged to share their ideas and before taking final decision by top management the suggestions from subordinates are kept in mind. 2.2 Individualism Individualism is working with single responsibility and without interacting with peers in the organization. On the other hand collectivism is working in groups and taking decision collectively without questioning loyalty. Individualist business organisation has very little ties between individual employees. Due to the ancient cultural heritage of China the family or relation are between peoples in the society are very strong and the people are very loyal towards each other . Collectivism is the practice in China society who have a close and committed members in the group be it a family or a business. Everyone takes

Global Business - Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words - 1

Global Business - - Assignment Example At the same time, a SWOT analysis and a PEST analysis have been employed for revealing the potentials of the organization to improve its performance through internationalization. Three different methods for entering the market chosen are presented. It is concluded that the expansion of the firm in a foreign market could highly support the increase of its profitability but only if certain terms are met, as indicatively highlighted in the sections that follow. In any case, it seems that the continuous monitoring of the relevant process is necessary for avoiding unexpected failures. One of the most important characteristics of the global market is its high competitiveness, a fact that has been related to the expansion of globalization (Griffin 2008). At this point, the following issue appears: how the potential of a firm to face the challenges of the global environment can be measured? The use of strategic tools, as those presented above, could possibly help towards this direction. Still, it is necessary to refer also to the global market trends in regard to the industrial sector involved (Nummela 2010). In the case under examination, emphasis should be given on the electronics industry. The global electronic industry is characterized by trends for growth. In fact for 2013 the growth of the industry has been estimated to 5.4% (QFinance 2012) with trends for further growth in the years that follow. Of course, the influence of the recent recession on the particular industry has been severe, as also in all industries worldwide. Still, it seems that the potentials of the particular industry to face market pressures are important, even if not all parts of this industry has presented signs of growth (QFinance 2012). The above facts are critical when having to evaluate the potential prospects of Elecdyne’s internationalization process. In case that the firm had tried to expand but in different environmental conditions, meaning the trends in the

Everyone and No One: Jorge Luis Borges and Shakespeare Essay -- Literar

â€Å"I am not sure that I exist, actually. I am all the writers that I have read, all the people that I have met, all the women that I have loved; all the cities that I have visited, all my ancestors . . . Perhaps I would have liked to be my father, who wrote and had the decency of not publishing. Nothing, nothing, my friend; what I have told you: I am not sure of anything, I know nothing . . . Can you imagine that I do not even know the date of my death?† (â€Å"Borges-Quotations†) The work of Jorge Luis Borges has been the subject of much literary criticism and research. Scholars have spent entire lifetimes attempting to pinpoint the meaning of his works. The fact that many of them use the above quote to do so sums up the enigma of Borges; the quote most likely to be used to explain him cannot be authenticated. In seventy-four short stories, over one hundred sonnets and thousands of essays, reviews, lectures, literature introductions and notes, the quote found in many quote collections and in an abundance of papers on the author may not be his words at all. Far from this paradox disproving any theories on the themes and intentions of Borges, the very fact that writers continue quote to quote this passage illustrates his thoughts on memory, identity and authorship perfectly. Memory is malleable and transferrable. Memory is identity. Authorship is identity. Therefore, authorship is memory and is malleable and transferrable. There is no defining work from Borges defining these themes. Even to apply them to his fictions, one must absorb them all. The fictions of Borges are brief, many as short as three pages. One of these (at eight pages) was the last story he wrote, Shakespeare’s Memory. Published after his death in 1986, he touc... ...inberger. New York: Penguin Putnam, 1999. 463-472. Print. Paul M. Life Developed Only on Earth Essay

Life developed only on this one small planet in this one small galaxy. There are several reasons to explain this and some of these are the following: First of all, water is sufficient on Earth making it fit for life to exist (BBC, n. d. ). Second, oxygen is available on Earth for a life to carry on living (BBC, n. d. ). Third, neither earth is too close nor too far from the Sun, thus neither it is not too warm nor is it too cold to live in (BBC, n. d. ). Fourth, the chemicals necessitated to create a living cell are more than enough (BBC, n. d. ). Fifth, a considerable amount of plant and animal species have already developed and adjusted to the environment (BBC, n. d. ). Sixth, the surface of the Earth is perfectly designed since it amazingly protects it from the rays of the Sun (BBC, n. d. ). This is the same reason why the Earth gets the right temperature while other planets are either extremely hot or excessively cold (BBC, n. d. ). Consequently, this also made it possible for water to be available in its liquid state (BBC, n. d. ). Seventh, even if it has been said that life exists in Mars, there are no evidences that support such yet (Fisher, 2005). Furthermore, telescopes are not that good enough to provide details as to whether life really exists there or not (Fisher, 2005). Moreover, to declare such a statement would entail a closer scrutiny of the aforementioned (Fisher, 2005). Eighth, unfortunately, nobody from Earth can leave for Mars (Fisher, 2005). In fact, even NASA say â€Å"no such mission will be attempted for several years† (Fisher, 2005). Last but not least, the Earth is the only planet which has a magnetic field that â€Å"turns away dangerous particles of space radiation† (Fisher, 2005). This means that other planets have a much lesser air and have a much colder temperature, thus living will be quite impossible (Fisher, 2005). References BBC. (n. d. ). Why is There Life on Earth? Portia in Julius Caesar - Free Essay Example

Sample details Pages: 2 Words: 711 Downloads: 5 Date added: 2019/03/26 Category History Essay Level High school Topics: Julius Caesar Essay Did you like this example? In William Shakespeares play, The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, the character Portia, second wife to Brutus, seemed to be one of the most burdened with secrets. There were only two women in the play, and Portia was the one who proved strength over most of the male characters, both physically and mentally. Portia was born between 73 BC and 64 BC and loved philosophy and had an obvious understanding of courage (Wikipedia.org). Don’t waste time! Our writers will create an original "Portia in Julius Caesar" essay for you Create order Portia was the only wife in the play who knew about the plot to kill Caesar. Brutus divorced his first wife, Claudia Pulchra, to marry Portia. Brutuss mother, Servilia, was jealous of Brutuss love for Portia (Wikipedia.org). Every character in this play intertwines as a soap opera would. Most marriages were for political reasons and arranged, but Portia and Brutus married for love. Portia represents a woman who sees herself as strong as a man and tries to prove her strength throughout the play, (Wikipedia.org). When Brutus refuses to tell her secrets saying she would not be strong enough to handle such things, Portia stabs herself in the leg. This is her effort to not only prove her pain can be hidden, but she can also keep a secret. This symbolizes her strength and loyalty. Men are usually seen as the violent characters in the play. Portia shows more self-inflicting pain than any other character. Shes torn before Caesars murder, because she knew about the murder plot. She may have been the powerful one who could have prevented Caesars assassination, if she had told someone or warned Caesar. Her loyalty to Brutus may have also been the death of her. Although shes dead by Chapter IV, Portia still plays a huge part in this chapter, as far as showing Brutuss character. Portia only appears in the entire play a few times, but her role plays a huge significance. Brutus mentions Portia, during his conversation with Cassius as they prepare for their final battle. Brutus shows his own conflicting feelings about his role in Caesars death and his guilt for also contributing to Portias suicide (Shakespeare.mit.edu/julius_caesar). Bru tus says, No man bears sorrow better. Portia is dead when explaining to Cassius how Portia was stronger than any man, but she was now dead from swallowing the hot coals. In Act 4: Scene 3: Brutuss tent, Cassius asks Brutus during their emotional conversation, how Portia died, Of what illness? (Shakespeare.mit.edu/julius_caesar). Brutus replies blaming himself for being absent during Portias grief, blaming himself for her suicide. During this conversation, Brutus tells Cassius to get him bowl of wine, so he can bury all unkindness or unwanted feelings. (Shakespeare.mit.edu). Brutus acts completely different when he speaks to Cassius in private. Brutus is a completely different man when in the public eye. Many historians argue about the exact timing of Portias suicide. Contemporary and modern historians also argue whether she actually swallowed hot coals or died of carbon monoxide poisoning (Wikipedia.org). Contemporary historians believe she killed herself after hearing Brutus died following the second battle of Philippi and modern believe she may have died from the plague (Wikipedia.org). By reading Shakespeares play, it is seems as if Portia died from grief. She was torn the day of Caesars assassination, knowing her husband was involved, but could not be comforted. She had to keep these worries to herself. Portias role in the play represents the deep pain and sorrow inside of Brutuss conscious by the end of the play, (Shakespeare.mit.edu). Essay on The History of Babylonian Mathematics - 1569 Words

The History of Babylonian Mathematics The history of ancient Babylonia is really long, but this essay is a short and to the point summery of the entire history. The history of Babylonia started near the end of the year 2000 BC, when invaders were attacking the Sumer kingdom. Sumer was a powerful kingdom in the western part of Asia, and it some what occupied what would become Babylonia. After the kingdom of Sumer was destroyed the city-states of Larsa and Isin came into settle on the land once occupied by Sumer. This led to fighting between Larsa and Isin. After hundreds of years of fighting Larsa defeated Isin. But, just as Larsa beat Isin, Hammurabi came to power in the city of Babylonia. Hammurabi went on to defeat Larsa†¦show more content†¦The king also rebuilt the capital, Babylon. But, Babylonia did not hold together after the kings’ death. Nabonidus, the new king, could not seem to keep the Babylonian empire together. Shortly after the end of Nabonidus’s reign, the Persians moved into conquer. Babylonia was defeated and would never rise again. Culture Ancient Babylonian culture is represented mostly through their art. Their art is mostly consists of tablets and pottery with detailed carvings and images of people and their actions. This form of art reflected their every day lifestyles and culture. First there is the representation of the people, men and women. The art of the men make it seem like that they are better than woman. Maybe symbolizing their gender aspects of their time, where women are considered lesser. Many women wanted to fulfill the desires of men. From the list of other art forms, there is the clay plaque of the goddess Lillith. She looks like she is chained to a wall, perhaps in a sacrificial offering. Her arms appear to be raised as a spiritually symbolic element. A variety of animals surround her, which could also be a sacrifice. She is standing on two lambs, which the in the Bible means purity, so she could either be a good pure goddess, or one being offered to become one. A Simple Life Is A Happy Life - 896 Words

A Simple Life is a Happy Life In Henry David Thoreau’s â€Å"Where I Lived, and What I Lived For,† from Walden, the narrator writes about his journey to go live in the woods for two years to learn everything nature has to offer. He encourages readers to follow their own path and live a life of simplicity. Too often people believe that the more materialistic things they have, the better life they will live. Everyone is so caught up in their possessions, that they do not take the time to fully let the place where they will live captivate them. One should not only be fully drawn to the place where they spend all of our time, but it should leave them filled with joy and positive outlooks on life. He encourages people to give up all but the necessities and find that they were never living before because they were so bounded by all the things of the world. Thoreau argues that a life of simplicity teaches one more about themselves and drives their spirituality more than one co uld imagine. We see this theme of â€Å"living simply† reoccur throughout the story. Thoreau proposes that a simple life surrounded by natural creation is a spiritual journey in itself. He refers to himself as a surveyor and explains that before one should buy a place to live, they have to really explore the place they are planning to invest in. The closest he comes to actually buying a place was at Hollowell Place, until theShow MoreRelatedLiving A Happy And Simple Life761 Words   |  4 PagesDo you think it is possible to live a happy and simple life? Nursing Glasgow Coma Scale Over Time

Question: Discuss about the Report for Nursing of Glasgow Coma Scale Over Time. Answer: The essay is about the health condition of Mrs. Rhonda Bott, a 68-year-old lady admitted to the emergency department of the hospital. Her son Paul reported that her mother complained of headache, was unable to lift the right arm and had difficulty in speaking. She was subjected to several physical examination and CT scan. The results of CT scan indicated ischemic stroke and disregarded the presence of hemorrhagic stroke. The purpose of this essay is to discuss the pathophysiology of the patient's condition and plan a treatment regimen for Mrs. Bott on a stroke pathway. It will mainly give a rationale for initial nursing care and treatment procedure patients. Mrs. Botts condition indicated chances of either ischemic stroke or hemorrhagic stroke. To confirm the diagnosis, CT scan was done, which finally suggested she has an ischemic stroke. In relation to this diagnosis, it is necessary to know the pathophysiology associated with hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke. Stroke is primarily a heart or blood vessel disease. It primary pathology includes hypertension, atherosclerosis, heart disease, dyslipidemia, and hyperlipidemia (Liebeskind 2013). It symptoms include trouble in speaking, headache, numbness in face or arm, dizziness, watch which was also seen in Mrs. Bott. An ischemic stroke occurs when the blood clotting takes place in the artery linked to the brain and hemorrhagic stroke occurs when blood vessels rupture and bleeds into the surrounding parts of the brain (Hgg et al. 2014). Hemorrhagic stroke comprises 20% of stroke cases, and ischemic stroke comprises 80% of all strokes. A hemorrhagic stroke may occur within the intracerebral reg ion called intracerebral hemorrhage or in the subarachnoid area called an arteriovenous stroke (Robinson et al. 2013). On the other hand, ischemic stroke occurs rapidly as the brain does not store energy substrate glucose and it is incapable of anaerobic metabolism. This condition deprives neuron of necessary substrates (Berkhemer et al. 2015). An intracerebral hemorrhage causes injury to brain tissue by disrupting all the connecting pathways and leading to localized pressure damage In both ischemic stroke and hemorrhagic stroke, destructive biochemical substances are released which plays a major role in tissue destruction. It is necessary for patients to be aware the precipitating factors of ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke. The disease can be regulated by preventable and non-preventable risk factors. The non-preventable risk factors of stroke are age, gender, race and ethnicity, while the modifiable risk factor includes incidence of high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus, and coronary heart disease among patients family member. The interplay of the risk factor is essential for an understanding of stroke and planning effective stroke prevention programs patients. The disease can be managed by changes in diet, smoking and managing medical conditions like a cerebral aneurysm, obesity, atherosclerosis, hypertension, etc (Zhang et al. 2013). Mrs. Bott has been admitted to hospital after complaints of a headache, inability to lift arms and difficulty in speaking. To plan out initial nursing care for Mrs. Bott in the first 48 hours a careful examination of her physical condition is necessary. Her BP of 200/110 mg Hg indicates risk of heart attack and hypertension. Glasglow coma scale is useful in determining the level of consciousness in a patient following a brain injury. Mrs. Bott's coma scale is eight which is an indication of severe brain injury (Barker et al. 2014). Severe brain injury has chances of long-term impairments in cognitive, physical and behavioral skills in the patient. She was also observed with right-sided facial droop, and so she could respond verbally. Mrs. Bott ECG report also indicated atrial fibrillation meaning a condition which disrupts heart beat in the individual. Her family history also revealed cases of anterior myocardial infarction due to which her father died at the age of 57 years. For man aging the patient's condition within 48 hours, the nurse would follow protocol leading to rapid intervention by IV administration of the clot-busting drug (Vargas, J., Spiotta, A.M., Turner, R., Chaudry, I. and Turk, A.S., 2015). The nurse should treat her with fibrinolytic recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rtPA) drugs 4 hours post stroke. It helps in a dissolving blood clot, and this treatment has to be initiated as soon as possible to avoid permanent damage (Kernan et al. 2014). Secondly, maintaining airway, breathing and circulation in the patient will also be a priority for the nurse. After analysis of airway and respiratory signs, the nurse can provide intubation to Mrs. Bott. A nurse will continuously access patient's vital signs, cardiac rhythm, oxygen saturation rate and neurological deficits for the first 24 hours. To decrease the risk of aspiration and improve venous return in patients, the nurse can change the position of head of the bed to 30 degrees. It will pro vide better circulation to the patient. As the patient is hypertensive, she will also be given hypertensive medication (TrialistsCollaboration, 2013). Mrs. Bott's Glasgow coma scale indicated severe brain injury and so thrombolytic is severe for her as it helps restore cerebral blood flow in patients with acute ischemic stroke. It may improve her neurological defects. Thrombolysis or thrombolytic therapy is a treatment procedure to dissolve blood clots formed in the arteries leading to the heart and brain. It involves intravenously injecting clot-dissolving drug by IV line or catheter to deliver it to the site of blockage. A few examples of thrombolytic agents includes Eminase, TNKase, Streptase, etc (Kang et al., 2012). This medication is approved for immediate treatment of patients with heart attacks and ischemic strokes. A blood clot creates a chance of heart attack when part of heart muscle gets damaged due to lack of oxygen being delivered by the blood. Thrombolytics helps stroke patients by dissolving blood clots quickly and helps in restoring blood flow to the heart. It prevents damage to heart muscle and reduces the risk of heart attack. However as the blood flow is not completely normal, additional therapy like angioplasty is also done on individual patients (Strbian et al. 2012). The doctor has decided to prescribe aspirin, frusemide and atorvastatin medication for Mrs. Bott following her stroke. According to American Heart Association and American Stroke Association guideline on secondary prevention of stroke, antiaggregant like aspirin is an effective drug to treat stroke patients (Emedicine.medscape.com 2016). Aspirin is given to relieve pain and inflammation. It is also prescribed to prevent strokes or heart attack. Its benefit is that it avoids blood cells from clumping together, and hence it helps in preventing conditions that lead to heart attack (Halvorsen et al. 2014). The risk of taking aspirin is that it increases the chance of bleeding in the stomach, small intestine, and brain. Taking a high dose of aspirin for longer time damages the layer of the stomach and small intestine and thus leads to bleeding. The gastric mucosal lesion is common in a patient taking a high dose of aspirin (Friberg et al. 2012). However, the benefit of low-dose aspirin th erapy far outweighs the risk involved for some patients. As Mrs. Bott is a hypertensive patient, medication is necessary to reduce her blood pressure and prevent the risk of heart attack. This is the reason for the doctor prescribing furosemide drugs to patients. Although furosemide is used to treat edema in patient with congestive heart failure and kidney disorder, it is also used to treat high blood pressure. Mrs. Boot has no signs of edema, so she has been prescribed this medication mainly to reduce high blood pressure. Lowering high blood pressure in Mrs. Bott will help to prevent future strokes. It is a loop diuretic pill that helps the body to get rid of extra water and salt by increased urination. However, there are a few side-effects of the drugs such as dizziness, light-headedness, headache and blurred vision. It has a risk of severe dehydration and so serious side-effects like a muscle cramp, fainting, dry mouth, thirst, etc. should be carefully checked in patients (Dunne et al. 2013). Mrs. Bott medication drugs accurately follow A, B, C, D, E pneumonic for heart stroke prevention. A stand for antiaggregant drugs (example-aspirin), B stands for blood pressure lowering medication (Furosemide) and C stands for cholesterol lowering medication which is Atorvastatin drugs (Kernan 2014). Atorvastatin drugs is an HMG CoA reductase inhibitor which reduces bad cholesterol (low-density lipoprotein) and increases good cholesterol (high-density lipoprotein). It will lower the risk of stroke in Mrs. Bott. Common observed side-effects of the drug include Diarhhea, nasopharyngitis and uncommon side effects are a muscle spasm, limb pain, insomnia, wheeziness, liver pain, etc. Therefore doctors should reconsider the dose if the side-effects are severe and it does not subside (Rabar et al. 2014). Mrs. Bott's ECG report indicated atrial fibrillation. It significance lies in the facts that atrial fibrillation is the major cause of ischemic stroke. Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the rapid and irregular heart rhythm. It has no symptoms and in occasional cases heart palpitation, shortness of breath and chest pain may occur. The finding of AF in ECG report is significance in the patient because this condition is associated with increased risk of heart failure and stroke. Hypertension is also a risk factor for AF (Sanna et al. 2014). The possible pharmacological intervention of stroke will follow the standard guidelines for preventing stroke. It will comprise medication like anti-aggregates, blood pressure-lowering medication, cholesterol-lowering medication, carotid revascularization, management in diet and exercise (Kidwell et al. 2013). The purpose of three drugs like aspirin, furosemide and atorvastatin has been already mentioned above. To treat atrial fibrillation in Mrs. Bott, antiaggregant (aspirin and clopidogrel) and anticoagulants like (warfarin and rivaroxaban will be beneficial for the patient. These drugs are also approved by FDA to be an effective drug for stroke prevention. Other possible pharmacological intervention that would be appropriate for Mrs. Bott includes recanalization strategies like intravenous IV rtPA administration to establish revascularization (Ciccone et al. 2013). Current medical practice follows four strategies for treatment of ischemic stroke such as prevention of secondary com plication, reperfusion strategy for arterial recanalization, neuroprotective strategies aimed at metabolic targets and inhibition of inflammatory response (Kernan 2014). Neuroprotective drug helps in reducing ischemia related damage of neuronal tissue. However, the majority of patients are not eligible for rtPA because of limited time frame and moderate success rate. From the whole analysis of case study, it can be concluded that Mrs. Bott had high blood pressure, arterial fibrillation and ischemic stroke symptoms. The essay gave detail about the pathophysiology associated with hemorrhagic stroke and ischemic stroke. For a better understanding of the condition, detail about risk factors of both types of stroke has been provided. The stroke pathway plan for Mrs. Bott gave detail about initial nursing care for the patient within the first 48 hours. It also explained the significance of thrombolysis in patients. The pharmacological intervention for such patient provides information for current best practice guideline for secondary stroke prevention. Therefore the essay covered all aspects of ischemic stroke and its relevant treatment procedure.
